DEVELOPMENT OF ECOLOGICAL PROCEDURES FOR THE TREATMENT OF HARMFUL SUBSTANCES USING FERRATE (VI) AND ELECTROCHEMICAL OXIDATION OR REDUCTION

The use of ferrate (VI) as multifunctional chemical reagents has direct application advantages in the simplicity and economic benefit of the treatment of wastewater, landfill leachate, drinking water while avoiding the formation of toxic by-products. The advantage of ferrate (VI) in relation to conventional water treatment agents (aluminum sulfate, iron chloride) is higher efficiency by 30-50% strong coagulation power in waters loaded with organic material as well as environmental protection.

The high oxidation reduction potential of ferrate (VI) in relation to conventional water disinfection agents, the release of nascent oxygen during water oxidation as well as the absence of formation of chlorine and other toxic by-products, gives an exceptional advantage to ferrate (VI) as a disinfectant.
